E28 Master of diguises 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 hi there people's i need to clear the air abit and find out any information on how to diagnose a problem i have with my alternator ? what actions do i need to know if i have to replace the alternator? i done one thing my uncle said to me was to take the negative terminal(black terminal) off the battery, if it ran like normal then i don't need to replace or if it died then that means that i have to replace. would this be true what i said above ? could anyone help me out or point me in the correct direction that would be much appreciated Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

If you have already done & it kept running then you are bloody lucky & there MAY not be anything wrong with the alt. Doesn't discount a possibility of a problem in it though. Seriously, with your apparent lack of knowledge (no offense) in this area then your best bet is take it to an auto sparky - it's only a 2 min job to confirm the problem with tools/ knowledge Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
