shadowninja 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 I subscribe to NZ Driver & as always am eager for each monthly delivery. Like the Autocar mag, the BMW 1 series features large on the front page. Interestingly a very positive review. "This is not a cut-price, entry level, minicar offering remarkable packaging. .Despite being introduced as a five-door hatch, this is every millimetre a true BMW." According to NZ Driver it is unlikely that NZ will get the 1.6L petrol. More likely that we will get the 1.8L diesel, 2.0L petrol and the 2.0L diesel. These will all carry 6 speed manual or 6 speed auto trannies (!). The 2.0L diesel claims 120kW @ 4000 rpm, with a massive 340 Nm of torque @ just 2000 rpm!! The look of the car is warming on me too... and I know I'll definitely test it once it arrives. (also... it appears that BMW will be the first car manufacturer to start offering NAV functions for new cars, possibly from early 2005).
Homy.D.Clown 0 Report post Posted June 30, 2004 Yeah BMW have been trying to get the NAV thing up and running for ages... they were looking to other car makers for some help funding the project(all the mapping and associated stuff).. but deals kept going pear shaped so they decided to go it alone(is what i last heard).
