E30 Electrical issues.

Recommended Posts

Got a few problems I've tried searching for on here but the solutions havent necessarly worked

Windows only work when doors are open. Lights on the switches etc work when doors are open as well but soon as doors closed nothing. Checked window lock switch and cleaned contacts. Replaced fuse 27, no luck :(

Fog lights plugged in but no working. Switch is dodge, going to swap the switch tomorrow and check. Cleaned contacts but maybe not good enough, it is the twin button switch and when pressing the rear fog switch they worked but only intermittantly and when letting thte switch out (off) and holding it down. Front switch justr doesnt work altogether, suggesting a dodgy switch or wiring. Changed fuses 29 and 30 to no change.

The doorr llocks do not work, battery has been flat and it was deadlocked before this, so all locks bar drivers are deadlocked shut permanently. I'm guessing changing the central locking controller unit might fix this. Currently cant lock the dirvers door like this.

Windows - sounds like unloader relay is not triggering, look for an earth wire for the relay disconnected down at the starter - this opens the relay during crank & in turn cuts these circuits - also heater fan.

Fog lights sounds like a switch problem - at least - try this first.

Door locks -May have a broken wire in the door jamb/corrosion in plug, was the deadlock turned on by key in the door or did it come on itself?
