E30 Dash Warning Light

Hi,

Recently the (!) light on my dash has started to come on alot, and now its on pretty much all the time.

Kinda worried, What is it ?

Argh I think thats the oil warning light? Not 100% sure though, it says in the manual.

Pull the dipstick and see if you are low (with cold engine) if you haven't already...

(!) logo is the brakes i think? check the sensor on the brake pads, It will come on when the pads are low.

Either that or it the hand brake light, and your handbrake wire has come loose from the handbrake.

The oil warning light shows an oil can from memory.

its something to do with the trans. whenever it comes up on mine, even when i put my foot down the car revs real high but drives really slow. do you have that problem?

Just checked the oil and its 3/4 full

Hmm ok, But i just got new brake pads recently for a warrant :mellow:

Ok i'll try get a pic - Can't camera has no batteries

Its the third one out of the 5 red lights

Theres the Park light, Then a light i dont know, Then theres THE light, Then Battery, And then the Oil Light

Pritty sure the ( ! ) logo is for the brakes for when they wear out and the (O) is for the brake fluid when its low

From E30 Owners Manual:

Brake Hydraulics:

Goes out after engine has started. If the lamp comes on during a journey, brake fluid level is too low.

Is your brake pedal travelling any further than usual?

Yesss, It is

And i have a bottle of brake fluid that came in the car when i brought it

How do i top it up ?

The brake fluid reservoir is the square, white tank next to the left (passenger side) strut tower.

Has wires going to a float in the lid which sets off the dash lamp I think?
