kerrynzl 3 Report post Posted May 11, 2008 I am looking at swapping the M50 engine in a E36 The engine I'm swapping in is a large displacement non-vanos M50 what are pins #7 and #8 on the engine loom for? [ pre-1992 loom] The engine being removed is a M50B20 vanos what is pin #7 on the Engine loom for ? [ 1993 loom ] On the car side of the connector both pin #7 and pin #8 are redundant [ but are there on the engine side of the connectors] Can any one provide an answer [ or a link ] preferably with a connector diagram. jochen 4 Report post Posted May 11, 2008 Why don't you consult the Electrical Trouble-Shooting Manual (BMW ETM)? PM me your email and I'll send you a copy (PDF file) Tell me what year and model (1992 318is etc) and I can send you the full wiring diagram I would suggest you need 2 x diagrams: One for your car One for the donor vehicle Then you can print and sit down with the diagrams side by side and compare differences.
