dodgemnz 0 Report post Posted May 17, 2008 Hi all, I have a 1993 E36 318i (M40 engine) sedan and the auto has the frictions coming off in reverse and a recurring oil pressure problem so i have purchased a later gearbox from a 1995 318Ti (184is engine i was told??) I want to know if these are interchangable ie not different gear ratios internally that might upset the trans ecu? Im pretty sure they will swap over physically bell housing etc and starter should be the same. The box in the car is GM 96017, 006 the box from the TI is GM 96017, 632 Anyone done this sort of swap before ??? Cheers
