I imagine they would be damned useful for those who often have drinks in their car. I do know that they are the perfect size for a McDonalds cup. Some vehicles do & they are a pain in the a... - PR50 Nissan Terrano for one, if not too high - they are great thoughIt doesn't seem to, although it does a bit if driving hard but it does fold up.Just before installing read somewhere that the E46 armrest was awkward with gear changing, but the e36 isn't.
