rvrboy 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2008 Hi, I need to test the visc' fan on my E30, and would just like confirmation I'm doing it right. When the engine is cold a rolled up paper will stop the fan, and when the engine is at normal operating temp' it should shred the paper. Is this assumption correct. Thanks Gerry
Cale 36 Report post Posted September 12, 2008 Yes, you're right. It would be best to test the fan when engine temp is above normal (i.e. needle is past half way), as that is when clutch will engage so let it idle to get needle to rise past half way. Don't shove the paper in, just touch the fan.
