Deano 1 Report post Posted May 31, 2009 Where is the best place to get a set of rod bolts? Anything other than OEM that can be used? cheers [/quote I have re-used rod bolts before..without any short term trouble but is it common practice to always replace just like the torx head bolts? The rod bolts are M9 53mm and seems to be an odd ball size. Regarding head bolts. I have a Haynes 520i & 525e workshop manual that states: " torx type head bolts may be re-used up to 3 times"

Guest FrantiC Report post Posted June 1, 2009 torque to yield bolts should NEVER be re-used. Once they have been torqued down, then 2 90angle turns, once they are undone they are useless. Just stick to OEM, try Euro Italian shouldn't cost too much. New torx headbolts are like $50 for a set.
