Zay 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2009 Hey I'm new to this thing, i own a 1988 e30 318i 2 door manual, 2 tone paint job (candy red on top and black with red tint on bottom) on black Advanti speed rims with silver lip. Now i wanna take this engine out and drop something new in. i owned a e36 325i last time but was auto and I'm not a fan. but i loved that engine. wouldn't mind dropping the m50 in it, but wouldn't have a clue what to do?? like do i have to get a new manual transmission (wanna keep it manual). Ive thought about SR20's? Rotary's? 318ti? (but prob wont have the balls) recon my current 318? bore it out? shave the heads? turbo? my ex girlfriends dad put a Holden commodore v6 in his e30 would be kean for that, except don't know the exact engine? and what i got to do? cant really ask him no more haha. can someone help me? give me some options? how to go about it? whats easier whats not? etc, etc. Cheers

Cale 36 Report post Posted July 4, 2009 Welcome dude. The easiest N/A swap to gain more power would be to put an 2.5L M20 in. If you are asking how to go about it and what you have to do, you may struggle with putting an M50 or SR in. That said, almost anything is possible as you can probably see!
