Matty104 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 Its a 89 it only has the one pump in the tank, they dont have an external pump like the pre facelifts. I have a 89 325i and a 89 320i and they both have external pumps by the passenger side rear wheel????? or is that something else? they have power going to them so assumed they were the external pump
320guy 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 Oh ok, Ive never come across any facelifts with the external pump, there is a fuel filter there instead usually. But if it has wires going to it, it will be a pump.
BlowMyWhistle 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2009 I was told there are 2 pumps also. It was the primary, in tank pump. They replaced it with an aftermarket unit. Now the fuel gauge aint working, I'm wondering if it had the right connectors on it? They spent 2 hours on the car, so it's running very nicely. This fuel tank has 2 ports in it, the one on the drivers side, has the pump & the slider for the fuel gauge, but whats the other device in the left hand side of the tank? looks like another fuel gauge??I coulda fixed this whole thing myself for $95, a 2nd hand pump. but I pulled the pump & it worked... 320guy 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2009 They have a fuel sender in each side. They both need to be plugged in for the gauge to work. My e30 definatly has the one pump.
