my e30 will still not start

ive got a 1990 e30 318i and it still wont start,i turn the key to start and nothing but all dash lights etc come up.i can start it by ruuning a jumper cable from the battary to the switch on starter motor .ive replaced the white relay against firewall and still no luck.it will only strat when cold in the moring by key but any other time with running cable from battery to starter motor.

any help please.
