d1eng 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Hi, just about to lose the company car and I am looking to buy a beamer. I am going to look at a couple today which are on trademe, links below. Any advice regarding the 318is would be appreciated. Common issues/problems to look out for etc. One of the cars has a leak and I am being told that the seal needs replacing! (BMW apparently told her this). I am also interested to know the best place to take this car would be for servicing etc. I am in the Howick area of Auckland. What are typical servicing costs for this type of car and where should I take it. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=247419512 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=250565126 Cheers in advance Daz
Guest Simon* Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Can vouch for Lani's car (option 1). Very well spec'ed and cared for in excellent condition considering the mileage. And if you're in Howick there are no questions - go to Glenn at Botany Motor Works. He is a forum sponsor here and you will see his advertising everywhere. Highly recommended Welcome

d1eng 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Cheers for that Do the 1996 318is have this or did they not come out until 1997 versions?
Guest Simon* Report post Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) Correction both of those have 1800cc M42 motors. M44 didn't hit mainstream production until sometime '97. Edited October 29, 2009 by Simon*

Ok, so seller must have the wrong engine size on the details. Just test drove the 4 door one earlier but did not get a good feel for the car. Not much in the way of history either. Very keen on the coupe as it looks good, good spec, been well serviced and also a manual. Just not sure now about the 1.8 engine? Alternative is to try and negotiate this one down a little, 2.8 automatic but in 4 door version, what do you reckon? .... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=250383685
