martyyn 2 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Ive always thought it was due to the extra weight of the 6-cyl, but in the back of my mind is the 45mm strut of the 4-cyl vs 51mm strut in the 6's. So is it just because of the weight difference....and with my 'is' having the 51mm struts I still need 4-cyl springs if I want to lower it ? Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Forrest 35 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Yeah as Nick said it is all about weight. My old 316i which I put 51mm Struts in has 4 cyl springs in them. All the 318i race series cars that use the 325i/51mm struts have 4 cyl springs also. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
SIR E30 68 Report post Posted November 12, 2009 Yea as said above its a weight thing. FYI the 6 cyl spring is ever so slightly thicker so it doesnt sag as much with the extra weight.
