e30 springs....4-cyl vs 6cyl

Recommended Posts

Ive always thought it was due to the extra weight of the 6-cyl, but in the back of my mind is the 45mm strut of the 4-cyl vs 51mm strut in the 6's.

So is it just because of the weight difference....and with my 'is' having the 51mm struts I still need 4-cyl springs if I want to lower it ?

Yeah as Nick said it is all about weight. My old 316i which I put 51mm Struts in has 4 cyl springs in them. All the 318i race series cars that use the 325i/51mm struts have 4 cyl springs also.

Yea as said above its a weight thing. FYI the 6 cyl spring is ever so slightly thicker so it doesnt sag as much with the extra weight.

I run 4 cyl front springs in my 325i so that it sits nice and low
