Recommended Posts

Buying a pair for my E30 on TradeMe now.

Would these be okay? Link

Or is it better to have that locating ring in the middle like these?Link

Locating ring would make putting them on alot easier but worth $65 a pair?

Performance wise...no idea sorry.

Just interested as won't all the weight of the car be on these studs when the wheels are on them.

Ah well, if they seem dodgy i'll just take them off.

Thats why spacers are dangerous.

Least you will get to fit your beloved wheels

Yeah I can't wait any longer and can't find any E30 fitment wheels worth buying.

Slammed on 15x7 RS reps will do for now :) too bad I can't drive it ahah.

Yeah, scratch that. Just brought a set of 16x7.5 Racing Dynamics to use instead.

There's no way the locating rings bear the weight of the wheel - they're often plastic. There are many reasons why spacers are NOT dangerous (you can get them with German TUV approval, so they must be safe, Porsche continues to supply spacers as a factory option, they are legal for racing).

Either way, in NZ you need a cert for spacers/adapter (unless spacers are approved by the car/wheel or hub manufacturer), and up to 20mm they can be spacers but must be hubcentric and attach to the wheel or hub, or between 20 and 27mm they have to be "adaptor" style" (and hubcentric).

I race on spacers. It's the only way I can get wheels to fit my brakes. All the weight of the vehicle is going to be on the stud anyway.

E30's aren't load bearing on the hubs. The reason you get vibration, etc, when not using a hubcentric ring is improper location of the wheel - usually from improper wheel mounting technique.

However, I would still go for hubcentric spacers to reduce as much compliance as possible.

OP: Remember the stud length and inner nuts are really annoying to get right with bolt on adaptors. Hubcentric (both hub and wheel) slip ons would probably be better/more foolproof imho.
