Noisey Dizzy??

Recommended Posts

I started the car up this morning and I could hear, what I believe to be, the distributor making a bit of a sound - sounds like the bearings are going(gone) as it happened in my Prelude.

14kms on the motorway, I get to work and it is considerably louder.

Any ideas on this one guys? Is this a common fault?

just a thought - check ya water pump before you go home tonight... if thats collapsed or collapsing, you will hear a bearing noise.

Better safe that sorry man!

haven't heard of a dizzy bearing giving up teh ghost in a car liek yours, yet

only if it comes back.

If it does, grab a socket set extension, shove one end in your ear, and the other onto the suspected noise maker. "feel' around with your stethoscope until you find where the noise is being emitted from/loudest.

Obviously, dont go jamming it in the rad fan or on the dizzy leads or anything stuipd like that

Could be the Alternator bearing.
