Sound system for e30 coupe

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

recently got myself an e30. Now looking into a sounds system. Dont really want to spend that much right now as i want to have some money left over for some other thing as well.

Was thinking of getting:

1) a entry level headunit that suits the interior (black with the illunimation matching the dash lights)

I would like to get an alpine, but dont see any in the $ price i want to buy in. So was thinking of a Sony. bad idea?

2) 5.25 inch components for the front (some model that doesnt require modification to install)

Looking through the forum i see that the JBL GTO-605 has been suggested as a decent speaker not requiring modification. Any other suggestions?

3) If there is $$ left over a 4 channel amp - 2 power the front components and the rear speakers that i will be looking at getting later as i havent decided whether to stick with 5.25 inch components and keen interior factory at the back or get 6.5inch speakers.

Thanks.

The new Pioneer headunits look quite good in e30s and old cars. Not as flashy looking (thats good) as some of the other brands but sound quality wise they are excellent. Maybe check the DEH2150 out at Repco

Mine matches the E30 pretty well imo. Has all the features one could ever want. 3x high voltage preouts, USB, Aux, optional handsfree.

In the "My Car" thread in the showroom, theres more pictures... have 6.5" Components in the door, and 6.5" Coaxials in the rear.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies.

I bought a Pioneer DEH-2150UB and 1 set of Orion 5.25 components.

Will probably drive the speakers straight from HU for now and get a amp later.
