E30 Wheel Bearing Help

Recommended Posts

Right, so these wheel bearings/hub assembly don't really want to work.

They go onto the spindle properly and spin free until you tighten them up. Even if you just nip them up by hand they just stop spinning free.

I THINK it may be because of these stupid serated teeth on the back of them. I'm guessing they are an ABS sensor or something? Anywho, if I was to cut them off would it be OK? I can sorta see where I would need to cut but don't want to hack it up. Would really want to get these done before Monday and can't really return them as they are hacked up.

Any help would be awesome.

Might add also, that the old hub didn't have them serated teeth.

I put ABS bearings on my non-ABS E30, and never had a problem... hmm.

Also, be sure to pack those bearings with more grease than Jersey Shore.

How do you pop them off with a chisel? Hit them straight up and down till they get "shocked" off?

All sorted. For complete clarification, they just pop out with a bit of persusaion from a cold chisel. Havent had a problem with them... yet.
