crazyarab 6 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 Sam was kind enough to whip some custom made nolithane engine mounts into the V8 however they are just too damn hard and shake the whole chassis, pretty soon bolts will be coming loose lol. So, has anyone had an issue where the stock engine mounts were not good enough and looked into an upgrade option? My mechanic seems to think "hooking" them is the way to go or finding an mount already fitted with hooks that will fit. Thinking it will have to be a rubber option. Any ideas? tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 Don't go rubber Atta, they won't hold up to the torque, rileys car split an upgraded rubber mount in half pretty easy You have heard Rileys V8 idle and run smooth as a kitten on upgraded engine mounts. They are Polyurethane with a solid high tensile bolt through the middle. I can't see how you are getting vibration and shaking the whole car with the mounts that are in there. you must be dropping a cylinder or something is not running smoothy, as nolathane while being much harder than rubber will still dampen down what little vibration there is from a well balanced smooth bmw V8. don't assume its the engine mounts here as with rubber mounts the engine will probally move far enough to press on the steering and that could be very dangerous.
