Stan 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2010 I've always taken mine to Cooke Howlisons (BMW Franchise Dealer) but, for a variety of reasons, I decided to take it elsewhere when it needed a head gasket. This turned out to be a BIG mistake and now the workshop that I shall not name have had my car for 45 days, had the head off twice and it now runs like a bag of .... well, as I'm new here and don't want to be offensive, I'll leave that to your imagination. My question is, should I take it to Cookies to get them to fix it or is there a better option here in Dunedin? A BMW mechanic who actually knows how to set the cam timing on a Vanos engine would be a good start.

Hi, the best BMW Mechanic left the above mentioned dealership & was called in breifly to look at your car a few days ago, I would get back incontact with him, very clever chap & would know more about setting up your car than whom are left there.
