RvT 9 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 Hi All A staff member's partner has just bought a nice e36 325 and asked me to look at how to set the clock. Checked out a few sites and the theory was to push the clock button on the OBC and then use the 1 10 100 1000 buttons to change the numbers. We did that but nothing happened except for the screen shown below saying "imput time". Have I missed a step or is there a combination of keys to be pressed ? Cheers Ron
1rotty 40 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 Did you start with the 1000 ?
JFry 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 The bulb for the clock looks like it's blown, it's the one to the right of the bright screen in the pic.
RvT 9 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 Did you start with the 1000 ?To be honest I can't remember - think it was the 1 I pushed first. Is that important ?The bulb for the clock looks like it's blown, it's the one to the right of the bright screen in the pic.The clock shows up on the radio I am assuming ... can't quite see what you are referring to ??? Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 The dark area next to the 'input time' screen is the screen that should show the time, not the radio.
RvT 9 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 The dark area next to the 'input time' screen is the screen that should show the time, not the radio. That makes sense. The display shows "1:40" on the radio. I assume this time is linked to the OBC? Next question - how easy is it to replace light bulb and are they are special BMW bulb or is availablke ex Repco ? Cheers
1rotty 40 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 The small screen above the clock & date buttons. Jeffreys right-it should be illuminated so dead bulb probably. And yes,you start with the 1000. You should be able to see the time in the screen(just) even tho not illuminated.
CamB 48 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 <sticks hand up> I need a bulb too - mine blew a couple of months ago and have been too lazy to find another.
CamB 48 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 By the way, I doubt it will change the radio clock. However, since I hope someone will suggest an easy and cheap solution for the bulb, I googled this up for you to try on the radio:

Brilliant & now I understand where the screen is - I was thinking it would be part of the "Imput Time" screen but now I see where you mean. Question is - 3 minute fix or a few beers fix ? Are the bulbs specialised or repco available ?
CamB 48 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 3 minute fix (you poke your finger in under and behind the OBC and it pops out), but I think its a special bulb: http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/62111391260/ As you can no doubt guess, I made it as far as looking at the non-functioned bulb but haven't tried to get one yet. JFry 1 Report post Posted May 13, 2010 They are the same as the bulbs for the instrument cluster on my car. Apparently some have different ones though, maybe earlier models? I got a few from the dealer at just over $5 a pop. I remember someone saying they have them at the likes of repco for cheaper
davidaln9 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2010 I just had to replace the bulb in mine easy to do Need to get a flat screwdriver and gently prise OBC out while reaching under and poking your finger up through a hole below the OBC and pushing .. Mine was a little tight and took a little force but not overly much. Got 4 bulbs to replace them all so would all be same brightness from repco 2 of them wouldn't quite fit tho grrrr $3.10 each .. just had to wait for them to arrive from Invercargill
