Rear view mirror has been pulled off 'silver ball thing' ..fix

My daughter swung off the rearview mirror..it came off and now need it back on so can get a warrant.

Amazingly the round lil clip piece by the hole in rear view mirror is all still in tact. How in the world do you get it back onto the big silver ball part [ its all still attached under roof lining and big metal part comes down and on the end is a round metal ball that the mirror is supposed to attach to

Any help would be appreciated..
