b mike w 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2010 Hey guys I have posted this topic on here a number of times and have tried all of your suggestions and come up empty handed. So anyway i took a couple of days off work and decided id tackle this problem once and for all cos' im sick of having a wet interior. After pulling the entire dashboard out and sound deadening I have come across the leak in my firewall, turns out it is a broken rubbr bung that the bonnet release cable runs through. What the %&$@! All this work for that tiny little bung, thats rediculous. Anyway i thought id just vent on here instead of my car lol. Feel much better now and if anyone knows were to get a replacement bung (its the one that the bonnet release cable runs through to the engine bay) that would be a great help. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2010 try stearlership, or maybe jon from jk southern euro can help out... lol trust me it wont be the last big job you do for a stupid little part. kind of simmilar to ba and bf falcons, they have dual climate control and the plastic shaft that turns the vent from hot to cold air snaps in half, it takes 6 hours to remove dash and replace this part and refit dash, and the stupid thing is fords replacement parts is another plastic one.... dumb... Ok this wasn't that bad. Only took me an hour and a half to remove dash. Im from New Plymouth so we don't really have any BMW specialists around here. Would I be able to pick one up from PartsMaster or Repco or some place like that or will it have to be from a BMW shop?
_BRS_ 209 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 Might pay to go see Rod Gilbert at Euro Connection towards the end of Manadon Street in Spotswood. He works from home up a concrete driveway to his shed. 02102744437 or 7511944
bimmer boy 21 Report post Posted August 19, 2010 A bmw specialist or the proper dealership isnt always an expensive route to take, its sometime cheaper, never hurts to get a quote on the part anyway..

Is he looking at getting another? Yea mine needs an engine upgrade, still undecided with what i want to do though. Tossing up between a better BMW (maybe a 2.5) or something like a SR20DET
