I have tried with the e30 hose. No luck it needs to be larger. It really needs to be the exact shape. Cliff if you have spare hoses that would be great. Will head to the parts places in the morning.

After having a look at the diagramme from kiwi535 it looks like one end of the hose is smaller than the other, i won't have something exact but may have something that could be used as a temp solution.

Alternatively you could give Paul at Milland which sell OEM parts and based in Dunedin a call:

Like Michael if you need a lift anywhere to get it sorted, flick me a text. 027 747 5545

Now this is a great example of how willing people are to help when a fellow car owner comes calling.

We arrived in ChCh with no more issues however the rain turned into a down pour after Cromwell which made it an interesting drive. The car was awesome on the open road cant wait for the next road trip. B)

This is the damaged hose can not see anything else was affected and the engine still went well.

Here we are on top of the Roxburgh Dam before the down pour.

Thanks again for the help. Travel safe over the break. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

glas things worked out.Teh 5 series make a great NZ road trip car, just the right mix of limo/sport

looks like the coolant hasnt been kept fresh on that car...,cheap insurance for waterpumps and overall system efficiency, change every two years along with the brake fluid
