antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 30, 2010 Check fuses. Weird that it would just stop though. Something like the main power relay? Does it have an immobilizer?
Surge 1 Report post Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Check fuses. Weird that it would just stop though. Something like the main power relay? Does it have an immobilizer? Fuses have been checked and hes been told to check relay ( and relay pins for corrosion etc ) + grounds. Yes it does have an immobilizer. antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 31, 2010 What he's experiencing is exactly what my car does when It's immobilized. Does he know where the cuts are for the immobilization relays?

Cheers for that, have passed that info on. He has a question. The 50 amp fuse next to battery in boot looks a bit dodgy, has a makeshift repair done on it,(soldered). What does this fuse control/protect?

What does this fuse control/protect? that could expalin it,it wil pass small currents(lights in dash etc but not large current drains(elec windows, starting etc)often referred to as fusible link? What does this fuse control/protect? maybe aftermarket Amp, incorrectly installed jump start it from the engine bay + terminal , its on the bulkhead on the drivers side and bypass the rear battery
Surge 1 Report post Posted January 6, 2011 James here, back from the holi. Traced the problem firstly down to the rear 50amp fuse (hidden under heatshrink next the battery in the boot) - this connection broken would allow the car to crank and not start however all the dash lights and everything would come on. I intend to put a new 50 amp fuse in the back in place of the factory wire one, which will make it a bit more replaceable. The second problem was a bad connection to the alarm (at the plug) in the engine bay. I cleaned up the connections and put a bit of solder in them to get them nice and tight again. This problem as antil33t pointed out would totally immobilise the car and no power would get to the ignition.
