Blowing fuses aux fan, and power windows

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I have a 97 320i E36 auto, was giving it a good clean up today as havn't done it in months lol. Just for the hell of it I pulled the top cover off the fuse box and noticed fuse 41 was pretty badly blown (30 amp for auxillary fan), so I tested the fan and wiring etc, found nothing wrong. Replaced fuse and all was ok. Next went to put the windows up, and no go, check the fuse box to find another 30 amp (cant remember what number) blown. Tested all the regs etc which were all good. replace the fuse, and all worked mint. Few moments later without using anything, fuses blow again?? Instead of pulling my hair out lol, I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem, or any ideas what to test for or replace to fix. As I say, the car was off when the fuses blow, and I wouldnt have a clue how long the 41 fuse had been blown as I hadn't noticed any changes to the cars driving etc.

Cheers

Hey mate, could be shorting when it rains or the wires/ components get wet?

I know in my e36 the Body Control Module "BCM" is playing up or something has fried in it. My windows will only work when a door is open, and my interior lights do not work as they just blow fuses. Could be a similar issue occurring to your vehicle?

(please don't quote the entire OP when you're the first reply)
