TIZZLA 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2011 Hey guys, car is a 86 318i coupe The temp gauge isn't working and the previous owner has wired in an aftermarket temp gauge which works fine but I'd like to get the factory one going again. The service lights aren't coming on, previous owner said this was the case when he bought it as well. And also the fault lights panel located by the rear view mirror is missing. Was this an optional extra for e30's? And if i sourced one would it be a massive job to get it functioning? Any help or advice much appreciated

Hi Tony, I have an 84 e30 and have had the temp guage not working before, after doing the following it sparked into life: 1. replace the sensor (or just clean your old one) 2. clean all metal contacts (toothbrush etc works well) 3. ensure the grounding nut on the back of the cluster for the temp guage is done up tight Mine works like a charm now shouldnt take more than a few hours to do Mitchell
