[email protected] 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2011 Hi guys. On my fifth bw with the current black 04 e60 545i. Ex member of various car clubs including the NSW BMW Club and need advice on: a/ sports exhausts, and b/ track days a/ ... Having a V8 that doesnt sound like a V8 is just plain wrong. Wife's car is an 02 Range Rover 4.6 V8 and I just had most of the main muffler removed when it started to go and a straight bit of pipe put in, so now it sounds awesome!!! So had the entire centre section of the 545i exhaust removed from the cats to the rear mufflers and a straight through dual system put in. Sounded pathetic. Tack welded the butterfly valve open on the right exhaust tip. Still sounds pathetic. No V8 throb, no hairy chested roar when the load pedal gets a work out, just a droning farting noise. Especially when the butterfly valve vibrates when its cold. Very sad indeed. So? Anyone know anything about what I should do next to stop my V8 droning without going the full NASCAR noise? A BM mechanic has mentioned that Remus was the best sounding exhaust for the V8. Has something to do with the variable timing and the clearances being so small on the idle??? Please also take it as a given that increased performance is just as important as the rumble.... and b/... Track days? Whats the story with the BMW club? One single annual trackday event? Paaaaaaleeeze..... As I have been o/s for many many years, could someone suggest a good club/event that holds regualr track days? My brake pads and tyres are lasting far too long!! Thanks guys. Cheers Victor

[email protected] 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2011 (edited) They used to do 3-6 per annum. Mainly at the Wakefield Track because it had great run off areas + some at Eastern Creek. So? Wheres the best place or best club for regular track days? Not after a comp, just blowing off steam. Edited March 20, 2011 by 545Vic

Richiz 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2011 www.playdayontrack.co.nz would be your best bet for trackdays.... I've been to almost 10x of their track days over the years in the 350Z. very good guys/organiser. Lately i've been going to Track opendays/test days with a few friends. very few numbers of cars and you get to do pretty much whatever you want on the track. =)
