gonfellon 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2011 hi all ,my son is having problems with starters motor burning out in his 1991 318i e36 earths have been checked and all good. he replaces the starter and three to four days later same thing happens ,no starting again .once changed all good.for few days. relays checked and fine. ign key feels not right ,could this be leaving power on to solinoide any help or ideas would be great before buying replacement starter again. thanks Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
hotwire 352 Report post Posted March 31, 2011 Sounds like you may have answered your question What is happening to these starters? Same thing each time? Are they infact "burning out"? If so - may well be the ign switch keeping the starter in mesh. gonfellon 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 thanks for that .starter motors are burning out , my boy has not had car for long . on the weekend he was giving it a good clean and found under his seat broken glass and a ign key barrel that looks like the car has been stolen before. they have replace barrel so think i will start from there. thanks will post update if fix problem.
