Engine swap

I have my engine lined up for my swap, and due to the fact that i do not have an engine lifter, or experianced knowledge on swapping an engine, i got a quote from the mechanic who has done all the work on the car i have brought.

This quote totalled $930. this includes the labour involved in the engine swap, and a service for the engine.

Is this reasonable? i was thinking more like $400-$500.

This swap needs to be done. any ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.

for a service $300-$400 is kinda average and a few hours labour, (which can vary),

it really depends on who it is, specialist or just joe blogs mechanic.

You could ask around for quotes, then you get a better idea of whats average.

Sounds a little steep to me? Thats taking a motor out, putting one in - doing all fluids and stuff with a motor that came from the same car?

Yeap, one motor out, fluids etc done to new one, put the new one in. also just found out that the motor ive brought isn't a "turn key" one. now need to take parts off my old engine such as induction and fan to put on it. did i fix a hyrolized engine the hardest way possible? :banghead:

sounds a tad steep to me..... but it's cheaper than fixing youe engine.... full rebuild, plus probably at least one rod and maybe a crank lol...

there's probably hoards of guys on here that would help you out for a few ales, or maybe a small fee.... hell I'd do it for a few hundy plus whatever parts needed...
