Wanted: Bm24 Radio Module

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a 01/2001 E39 Touring with a Nav HU and want to swap out the Japanese radio module in the boot to a Euro model BM24 so as to get NZ radio. From what I understand it's just plug and play right. Just wondering if anybody has any for sale?- Im struggling to find what I need on Ebay...

Thanks

Golden rule:

Buy the newest you can find with the newest firmware (the manufacture date is written on the label eg KW 08/99 = week 08, 1999)

So I thought this vehicle had a world tuner. And was therefore programmable to NZ frequencies by keypress on the front panel. Or is the 01 just a bit too early for this?

Production change is always sept of each year, so 09/01 was the key date

I don't have one for sale but can confirm that BM24 is plug and play into 2001 e39 touring. I got one off ebay.de. Asked the seller if they would ship internationally and they agreed to. Might help if you can speak a bit of german or use translation software.

If you still have jap nav be aware that the display may not be compatible, when I first installed mine it all worked but would not display radio info on the screen, but I was fitting a mk4 nav unit so didn't worry. Now with new nav display is as it should be. I'm very happy with the BM24, would like to have gone BM54 but quite a bit more outlay and parts required. aux input and mp3 tag display would be cool though.

PROVIDED the E39 was made between January and September 2001.

From September 2001, the BM24 is NOT plug and play

My E39 is 03/2001 so plug and play should be all good- have decided to try one off German Ebay- Jochen thanks for those links btw- I still can't figure out why my searches weren't coming up with anything...

search for german text eg:

"radiomodul" instead of "radio module"
