EuroBoy 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2005 Finally my engine swap is underway. My uncle who bulids all crazy sorts of stuff in his spare time (planes, dragsters etc) has come over to help me with it. $500 for a new engine a few weeks back, a few cans of degreaser and its come up nice. tomorrow i think(?) im painting the block black, and then doing the rocker as is seen in ollies sticky. Tonight we simply took out the induction, radiator and distrubutor, and next time we attack it the aim is to get it ready to lift. i have taken a few pics, but i gotta do an english eassy first. Will post back soon, tomorrow at the latest

Surge 1 Report post Posted May 16, 2005 Good work so far... I'm going to be doing the same thing soon removing the M20B20 out of the parts car for spares. Started the 'project' car today and finally found out why it's sounding like a tractor, Not because it was firing on 4 cylinders - got that fixed.. But because some fool has only used 1 bolt on the exhaust flange just past the manifold Tell us if you come across any problems, make it easier for anyone else - thanks :thumb:

EuroBoy 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 (edited) Im not in it for the power, its the baddass look of an black e30 thats made me go through with this My dad and i kinda stopped taking pics halfway through, but ive got pics of the most important things. Came across no real problems, apart from not being able to turn the engine over to undo the torque plate bolts, so took the head off to do that in the end. (near new e30 head for sale, 2,600k done on it.) and difficulty with getting torx head bolts off. At the mo my old engine is out, and my new one, (ive painted the block black, and rocker black with brushed aluminium bmw logo) is sitting there ready to go in tomororw, Gave the engine bay a well needed water blast with some degreaser, looks P.I.M.P now. seeing as im sitting here ill see what pics i can give you guys Edited May 30, 2005 by EuroBoy

EuroBoy 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2005 (edited) Finished. One hell of a mission for a kid that had no real idea about engines when he started, a father that had done work on his escort when he was 20 odd, and an uncle that didn't turn up more than twice. All said and done, im stoked as! Edited June 16, 2005 by EuroBoy
