ssharma.akl 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 Hi I have recently got a 2004 530i that comes with a Japan standard Phone Eject Box. Is there a away to change it so that I can use a NZ Standard Eject box with iphone snap-in adapter ? The snap in adapter i saw at the dealership has a very different connector than what is in the car ...Has anyone changed the eject box in NZ on a Japanese E60? RvT 9 Report post Posted July 20, 2011 Hi I have spent about $300 on importing a snap in cradle and BMW Bluetooth Module CPT 9000 Dongle that fits into the cradle off eBay but couldn't get it to work. The connections are beneath the bin and access from the rear air grills and they connected up fine. I gave up and am looking to resell the gear on eBay again. I am not an expert on this but my investigations pointed to the fact that the Jap telephone system is not compatible with NZ so I tried to used just the connections to use the speakers only. I don't think the iPhone will connect up thru the Jap Phone module.

I don't think the iPhone will connect up thru the Jap Phone module. As I understand, there is no 'Japanese Phone Module' in the car. All that the cradle does is charge your phone and connect it to the external antenna. To get the phone connected through the audio is to get a full bluetooth retrofitting done. Some of the vehicles come with a bluetooth prep wiring (behind a small opening in the boot liner on the left of the boot). So, there are only two ways to get your phone going through the audio system are: 1. get the original B/T kit and get it fitted (also requires recoding by the dealer) 2. get a third party solution like Dension Gateway.... So, does the eject box connect with the snap in adapter and charge your iphone 4?? If so, I would be keen to see some pics ... the bluetooth dongle is no use... RvT 9 Report post Posted July 28, 2011 My car came with a charging cradle for an old model motorola. There is also a telephone button on the steering wheel plus it comes up on the iDrive display. I changed over the cradle to another motorola phone that also took the BTUM dongle thinking it would sync in with the BTUM and create a Bluetooth enviroment like it does in the 7 series. http://www.bcdonline.com/BMW/CPT9000.html I use Nokia phones so Bluetooth would have been my preferred interface. ssharma.akl 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 yup, I also have an eject box pre-installed but the connector is not compatible with the new iphone snap in adapters available with BMW NZ. If your eject box looks like attached pic, I will be interested. The idea is to remove the current eject box (designed for BMW Motorola Phone) and change to the universal one, then add a iPhone snap in adapter. Your car may have the steering controls but does it have the bluetooth unit installed? it should be a box in the left side of the boot behind the liner trim. If you don't see a box and don't see any wiring connectors as per attached pic, it would mean that your vehicle is not prewired for B/T unit.
RvT 9 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 Which part of NZ are you in as you haven't added it to your page like the rest of us have ??? If you are in Canterbury, you are more than welcome to drop in and try what I have etc. My car is not Bluetooth set up which is why I tried the BTUM kit. The BTUM dongle which is shaped like a cell phone is actually a Bluetooth transmitter that is supposed to sync with your car. My car has BMW option ... #646 Japan Telephone system
