I'm originally from South Africa and have been surrounded by BMW's as long as I can remember but funnily enough, have never owned one. That could all change tomorrow though as I'm simply over Mitsubishi ownership. I've had two VR-4s stolen from me in as many years, most recently last Saturday. Every cloud has a silver lining however and tomorrow I am going to have a look at a 2000 E39 BMW 540i Motorsport. I have conducted some research across a variety of forums and websites about the common faults, recall status, maintenance requirements of these vehicles. Could anyone suggest the name of a reputable BMW expert in the Botany area that could arrange a pre-purchase inspection on this vehicle? I understand that it's probably short notice but I'm heading in from out of town to see if it is as good in the flesh as it is in the pictures.
