Radio Antenna problem, need help

Recommended Posts

Hello Gentlemen,

I have E39 530i Japan Spec. with 9:16 board monitor. I want to replace it with aftermarket.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...E:X:AAQ:US:1123

The problem is I don't know where to plug the new radio antenna.

In the radio BMW Business it usually located in the behind.

http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E39/Seda...io_without_mid/

But in 9:16 everything in the trunk. I disconnect the radio module in the trunk so that I can plug the new DVD.

I took pics to the old cables that connected in the old radio.

I tried to connect them with the new antenna cable but they didn't fit. where are these two cables connected to ?

So I need to know where I should connect the new antenna cable ?

Go to an auto sparky. And yes it will work - there are only male & female versions of both variants.

And remember the following_

When removing the stock radio and fitting an aftermarket radio:

a) you need to ensure the antenna amplifier stays powered, or otherwise you'll not have any useful signal

B) you'll loose the FM antenna diversity function, and the antenna diversity switcher will revert to antenna 1, stead of switching between all 3 fitted FM antennas

c) as a consequence of B), your FM radio reception with an aftermarket stereo will never be as good as with the original factory stereo

Dynavin d99 platform will have double radio tuner and the reception is the same as OEM tuner. :D

Diversity tuner is one thing

The ability to control the BMW diversity antenna switcher is another

Does the Dynavin have the 2 x different diversity antenna switch control signals that the BMW needs?

Pre 2001: IF signal output on small coax cable to tell diversity switch when to switch

Post 2001: IF signal output on same antenna cable to tell diversity switch when to switch

ZF and IF are the same thing, but in different languages

ZF=Zwischenfrequenz

IF=Intermediate Frequency
