Painting an E30 rubber spoiler

Recommended Posts

Just bought an e30 spoiler, wasn't aware they were made of a rubbery material when I bought it.

Wondering if anyone knows the best way to paint these with out the paint cracking?

What's the best paint to use? Preparation tips?

At the moment it's just primered, planning on painting it either black or white.

Any help would be swell!

Cheers

Where are you?

Wrap it up and send it to me and i'll do it, i'll also stand by it not cracking for as long as you own the car.

I'm in Whangarei, I'm going to see a family friend who's a car painter to see if he can do it first. But I'll let you know if he can't do it. What paint do you use?

Basecoat / clearcoat.

Whoever does it needs to get all that primer off because there's no knowing what it is.

It needs a plastic /rubber adhesion promoter, a good single pack primer then base colour then clear.

Primer, colour & clear all need a 'flex additive' in them to stop cracking when the rubber is de-formed.

Okay sweet!

I'm going to get all this primer off and see what the rubber is like underneath. Hoping that it's still mint so I don't even have to paint it.

Cheers for the help!
