Jaysink540 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2012 Hi Everyone, I am begining the journey of replaceing the timming chain guides on my e39 540 (m62b44 non vanos). What i am trying to find out is if there is anywhere in NZ that rents out the timming tools? They are 4 blocks that bolt down and hold the cam's in place so you can take the chain off, change the guides then replace the chain without anything moving. Thanks

Jaysink540 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2012 Yeah it is a big job. Having the correct timing tools will make it much easier. I am also making up something to hold the main crank pully so the bolt can be removed as that is the second most difficult part of the job. The rest is really just un-bolting the old parts and replaceing them.
