E39 right front door wont unlock

Hi everyone...i have a 2001 520i. Today pulled up at home and pressed the unlock button in the console to unlock the doors as I did this I was pulling the interior door handle and it clicked and would not open. All the knobs will go up and you can exit and enter the car through all the other doors except the drivers door. It will not even unlock from out side with the key. When using the key the knob pops up but the door is shut fast. Does anyone have any suggestions....thanks Steve
