E39 M5 clutch

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I asked about the clutch and flywheel set-up on the E39 a couple of months ago. The process was completed a couple of weeks ago. To do the clutch through a dealer, I was looking at $750 odd for the clutch (would've taken 3 weeks to arrive) and another $1,200 labour.

After a lot of reading and deliberating, I decided to do the clutch only and leave the flywheel as it was. I got the LUK OEM clutch through Peninsula BM in Melbourne who got it here in 10 days from Germany, then got BM Workshop to install. Graham at BM Workshop was great.

I asked for some pictures of the flywheel, and if it was buggered I was going to get one in. It was OK, but graham at BM Workshop sent it down the road to get machined (I didn't think this was possible, apparently it is).

So, new clutch, machined flywheel, installed for just over $1,700. Clutch is strong and feels great at pace.

Thanks for your input.
