E90 side mirror

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am new here and need some help regarding my e90's side mirror. Whenever I start my car the passenger side mirror tilts all the way forward unless I hold it in place myself.

I have done some research and see that it can be a result from a number of things including corroded pins, spring tension or the whole motor broken itself. This problem started after I folded it in awhile back to get into a tight spot (Only used the fold in button less than 10 times).

My car is not set to move its side mirrors however because of the faulty left side mirror, only that side tries to move all the way forward every time.

As I am someone not good with anything technical, I was wondering if any of you have a contact for me in Auckland who can fix my side mirror problem. I went to BMWorkshop and was told it was most likely a motor fault which was common with e90s (this is from just chatting and they didn't actually open and see the side mirror). Sent my car for its regular servicing there however they didn't have time to check it. I don't blame them for it and they have been great as I send my car there for every service. I don't mind getting it isolated but would of course love to have it fixed if it doesn't involve replacing the motor. As long as someone can look at it, deduce that it is the motor fault and can isolate it for me for a reasonable price.

TL;DR: I would like a recommendation for a workshop that knows of this problem and the price to fix/isolate it. Thanks.

You answered your own question - BMWorkshop.

Guess I answered my own question because I had originally planned to bring it there but wanted to keep my options open. Had originally sent it to service and have my side mirror looked at too, but unfortunately there was no time to look at it. From what I read there are so many things that could cause it, its never a mistake to consult someone who is more familiar with BMWs who might've had the same issue I am having.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. It is quite chilly to stand in the rain today to hold it in place whenever I unlock my car ;)
