CD Changer not working with Phillips head unit but works with Alpine H

Recommended Posts

I have a Ex Jap 2001 2.2 Z3 with an Alpine head unit (Tape deck with CD changer in the boot). Every thing works fine however I have an earlier model(Phillips I think) radio with tape deck and NZ FM frequencies and have installed it in the car and the FM frequencies work fine but it does not recognize the CD changer. I have the manual for the Phillips radio and it indicates that the BMW 6 change changer A or P should work but it is not available as an option when I press the mode button. Can anyone suggest why it does not work. If change the radios over (ie) put the original back in, the CD player works fine. Someone told me there was a change of cabling, is this correct?

Just checked and the radio is a Phillips PH7850. Maybe i need a different CD changer.

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help.

As far as I know everything is correctly connected as the changer works with the Alpine radio and by simply changing to the Phillips radio it does not work or even register, swapping back to original radio, the changer works so presume everything is correctly connected.
