conrod 1 Report post Posted October 22, 2005 (edited) That sounds like a very well thought out project-well done! What type of events do you plan to compete in Andrew? Have you seen the 2.7 M20 at Bavarians? it belongs to a friend of mine, and will be going into his tarmac rally car, should be a very good engine once completed. What are you using for an inlet manifold on your engine? Edited October 22, 2005 by conrod

What are you using for an inlet manifold on your engine? Is that Allen's one? Sitting on a stand? - I hear he just got the webbers for it - looks very mean. 300 hp apparently? Ernst was saying its the same motor build that has gone into his old e21 that is being very seriously built up (can't recall the guys name)I'll do any event I can get my grubby hands on - the plan is to do targa next year - will do lots of small events up till then. Will be taking the car out to most of the controlled testings at puke for the rest of the year - you should come on down there one weekend - would be cool to have someone with your knowledge while we are testing the car. I'm using the 325 intake manifold - would love individual TBs and trumpet intake! Intake options are so open now that i'm not restricted by the AFM needing to be in the system. conrod 1 Report post Posted October 23, 2005 Warren is my friend who has the "other" engine on the stand(there were two of these built- but thats another story), he has 3x twin choke throttle bodies going on to it, 300hp is a bit optimisitic I think, probably be around 250 with good torque spread- should be cranking for an M20! There were two of these engines built at the same time by another friend of mine, the other is running carbs in an E21, not far away from being fired up I believe. The standard intake is probably fine for a mild state of tune, intake runners are long, so will be good for torque, may benefit from a larger throttle body, and throw the AFM as far as you can, you do not want that piece of junk blocking the intake! Warren Gibb?Bob Homewood has got 192 hp (at the wheels) tune at the wheels before the clutch slipped - will be revisiting him again when I get the car back from Mark (new metal clutch etc). The injectors at that power were 97% duty cycle also - so am upping the injectors and will go back. Probably looking around 210 wheel hp - so 230ish engine hp. Amazing what the 323 head does! The e21 the other motor in is just an amazing car - was a very cool build.
