e30 rear axle not sitting fully in. need help

So tonight its like 1am

I started working on it from 5pm

Ive done a diff change and rear brakes from drum to disk. With braided lines and brand new rotors etc.

On the drivers side everything just popped into place.

BUT on the passenger side the axle wont go all the way thru. There was slight rust on the teeth i tried wire brushing it.

And it went halve way in okey but like there a 1/4 or half a inch gap before the axle is sitting flush with the diff.

Do i need to use a bigger hammer?
