E30 Conversion Electrical Question

I am putting an M52B28 and have been told i need to use a 110A alternator but have found one that is rated 80A so my question is, are there a bunch of different alternators and is there a specific one i need as the engine i purchased came without and alternator.

I don't see why you would need to use a specfic output

you just need an M52 alternator.

unless you wanted a huge stereo or whatnot, whatever the standard size is will be fine.

Yeah, thats what i thought too but i wanted to ask before i commited.

Dunno why you would have been told that, as above - any fitting unit is fine.

The electrics in the donor car would have been far more demanding than the E30

Yeah that's what i thought too, i did notice there were 3 different versions of alternator for the Z3, i bought it anyway so it's done now.
