Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 (edited) My brother-in-law (since deceased) bought a 320/6 Alpina - I think it was an '83 model ~ he bought it used in 1984? I haven't seen another around since he sold his (he rolled it when a tie-rod snapped - was off the road for a year while BMW NZ & Germany fought over who was going to pay for the damage). As I recall, it was THE smoothest 2 litre 6cyl I'd ever driven at the time. It was white with red and blue stripes. Anyone have one? Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted December 28, 2005 By the lack of response, I'm taking it that these things were fairly rare? As far as I can recall, it was a genuine Alpina - I had a friend with two 2002s and two BMW bikes who confirmed that at the time. It cost him $35,000 at the time (in 1984). After he got it back on the road, he sold it and, of all things, bought a Subaru Vortex new for $58,000. He kept the Vortex until he died, when my sister traded it for a Honda Civic. Guest Andrew Report post Posted December 28, 2005 The alpina is rare - but an E21 320 6cylinder is not rare at all. You could pick one up sub 1000 dollars. Most are rusty POS though. Hah first time i've ever heard anyone call the m20 smooth!
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted December 29, 2005 Hah first time i've ever heard anyone call the m20 smooth! LOL - I had a Mazda 808 at the time.... its all in comparison... but it certainly was a smooth 6. Bear in mind, it was almost new then...
