ttcw 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2016 Hi, My 1998 BMW 318i is running rough when engine is cold - either overnight, or not driven for 8 hours while at work. When it warms up it runs perfectly. The car doesnt sound like it is hesitating (misfire or jerkiness) or anything, but struggles to get up to speed. Usually stuck around the 20kmh and no matter how much gas you give, it stays at 20kmh, and as soon as the engine temperature got past the blue range the power came and drives normally from then onwards. I have tested the ECTS and it is in good condition. So what governs the car when the car is cold but not when it is warm? Any advise or what else to test please let me know. Cheers!
