speedyg 16 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 The temp gauge in my car seems to have a bit of a mind of it's own. I suspect it is a dodgy earth. It works fine while the car warms up but when it has reached normal temp it then starts creeping up until I look down and tap the dash, then in goes back to normal. Lately it seems to jump up and down all over the place between normal and high. I have unplugged it and cleaned the connections but no change. Do I just splice in a new earth? Any ideas? Thanks
my_e36 43 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 Could it be your car is actually over-heating?

Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Did you tighten the connections to the actual gauge behind the dash?
jochen 4 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 You batteries will be knackered. The dash has a rechargable battery on board, so it never forgets the last speedo mileage etc. The battery fails after some years, giving your symptoms. Easy to replace - it is soldered in. Jaycar can supply good replacements. Jochen
