Bruce 1234 1 Report post Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) Hello. I have a 1999 540i which will not crank / turn over. My Foxwell scanner tells me the starter is disabled because of a P/N (which I assume to be Park / Neutral) block. I have a recurring fault code: IKE, no CAN identification. (IKE = instrument cluster). On the dash: the temperature gauge goes all the way to max, the PRND (park, reverse, neutral, drive) lights are all lit. Help! I used to work as a mechanic and bought this, my first BMW, about a month ago. It was not cranking when I bought it - apparently the headlights had been left on and the battery drained. Can't be that hard to fix thought I. Ha! I have fitted a new 900CCA battery and charged it fully. Any help greatly appreciated. Bruce.
