Hi all

My car started life as a standard 1996 BMW 528i SE Manual on the factory 16s, As seen in these photos:

But in the time ive had it ive felt the need to give it a sort of 'facelift' to bring it into the new millenium. Heres the results:

The mods pictured as current are:

18x8.5" BMW m-spec replica wheels coated in shadow chrome

Dunlop SP Sport 2000 Tyres all round 245/45/R18

Smoked Front Lamps

Smoked Side Indicators

Smoked Rear Lamps

Chrome appearance indicator bulbs

As you can see its looking a bit tired at the front from stone chips- it has covered over 217000kms so far, more than half of which is open road driving.

Things im looking to do to the appearance in the future are:

Euro-style personalised plates

Tinted windows

Your feedback and opinions on its 'facelift' and future mods would be appreciated!

:P

Very nice.

Good to see another stone chipped 5 series, at least you're using it for what it was designed for.

Ours is going back into active service this week.

looking good man, if you dont decide to lower it, you could always try and find an m5 kit for it, but one or the other!

Looks V.nice, smoked tails look great with the colour of the car.

245/45 R18 seems like an overly tall tyre for a E39 (255/40 R17 is the size used on the rear of the motor sports), fine for a E38 though.

Have a look at the BMW Aero kit for the E39, don't see many around and looks quite nice, consists of a front & rear lower bumper spliters & side skirts, a bit different to the usual M5 wannabe motorsport kit.

Thanks for all the compliments guys :D

Of those options id probably be looking at just a front splitter and two-tip single muffler arrangement - cant really lower it due to wanting to maintain its current level of comfort on long journeys. As for the tyre profile, i will be looking to upgrade the rubber before the next w.o.f. so thats on the list. :)

Damn! Nice ride! Facelift process looks great. Colour is nice IMO, looks like a nice classy facelift colour. Thought I saw this car today - but the one I saw was quite similar - and you don't live in Dunners. Heh.

Welcome to the E39 club. I'm Emma. :D

Great job on the car, I personally think it would look fantastic with a facelift grill. I don't know what would suit it better, a black or chrome one, probably chrome seeing its a 5 series.

But great job, big difference from the standard look.
