Bruce 1234 1 Report post Posted July 23, 2019 Hi. I had the carpet out of my E39 and found the rust pictured in the left front footwell. While getting the carpet and centre console out took a couple of hours it was worth doing just to find this before it turned into something worse. I ended up cutting my carpet where it goes under the middle dash support - went back in fine - the thickness of the carpet seems to hold it in place ok.
